Jodogaura Coast
Overview
Jodogaura is a rugged coastline running about a kilometer down the eastern shore of Dogo Island (Okinoshima Town), the largest of the Oki Islands. Dotted with pine-topped islets, the area was named after Jodo, the Buddhist paradise, for its spectacular natural scenery. Jodogaura is interesting geologically for its readily visible strata of rock layers created by volcanic activity 26 million years ago, as well as those formed by lake sediments. Visitors can enjoy strolling along the coast, watching birds, snorkeling, and kayaking.
