Shichi no Resort
This small resort complex overlooking Matsushima Bay includes chic, minimal self-catering lodging, a café, outdoor barbecue facilities, fishing gear rental, and cruises around the Shichigahama area. Guests staying in one of the hotel’s 10 rooms typically visit the nearby Umi no Eki shop to pick up fresh sashimi, local produce, eggs, snacks, and drinks and stop by the adjacent fish market to find the catch of the day.
The complex was built in 2017 to encourage tourism to this long-standing beach destination, as most of the buildings and lodgings near the coast were washed away by the tsunami caused by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. As a safety measure, the resort includes a reinforced tsunami evacuation tower.
