Kyukamura Okunoshima
Kyukamura Okunoshima is the only hotel on Okunoshima (Rabbit Island), a small island in the Seto Inland Sea that is home to about a thousand wild rabbits. It is located in a quiet spot, offering relaxation.
The hotel is one of 37 Kyukamura National Park Resort hotels across Japan. The multi-purpose kyukamura (vacation village) resorts are built in scenic spots and national parks to provide guests with opportunities to get close to nature and enjoy a variety of recreational activities.
A stay at the Kyukamura Okunoshima offers these experiences as well as the chance to be on the island when the rabbits are at their most active, during the early morning and late evening.
The accommodation is Japanese style, with tatami mat rooms and two hot springs (onsen) at either end of the main building. The hotel also has a café, souvenir shop, and restaurant with buffet-style dining for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
In front of the hotel is a large open park with a lawn and palm trees. An outdoor swimming pool and tennis court are located close by. There is also a swimming beach about five minutes on foot from the hotel. Indoor activities, such as crafts and workshops, are also available.
Guests of all ages are welcome at the resort. Families and younger travelers, in particular, enjoy the facilities.
