Mori no Kaze Flower Garden (Flower & Garden Mori no Kaze)
Mori no Kaze (Wind of the Forest) is one of the largest Western-style gardens in Japan. It was created in collaboration with Ishihara Kazuyuki), a Japanese landscape designer whose work is known around the world. Ishihara has won multiple gold medals at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show held annually in London. The garden is part of the Hotel Mori no Kaze Oshuku complex, but is open to anyone.
The vast garden, which covers more than 23,000 square meters, is divided into two major areas: “Forest Valley” features a variety of flowers and plants that represent each of Japan’s four seasons, and includes a waterfall and stream. Children and the young at heart will enjoy searching for various animal-shaped creations in the topiary garden section, while gardening enthusiasts will be eager to see one of Ishihara’s award-winning projects from the Chelsea Flower Show. The “Forest Hill” area offers a whimsical feel, like stepping into a secret garden. In the evening it is lit up with illuminations based on Japanese fairy tales.
