三瓶山
概要
島根県の中心にたたずむ三瓶山は、豊かな自然と風光明媚な多数のハイキングコースが印象的な、標高1126メートルの独立峰です。この山は、8世紀の出雲の国風土記に記されています。山の斜面には、草原とブナの森林が植生する珍しい組み合わせがみられます。三瓶山は何千年も噴火していませんが、中国地方では数少ない活火山の一つです。そのため、山麓や周辺地域にはいくつかの素晴らしい温泉があります。

Mt. Sanbe
Overview
Standing at the center of Shimane Prefecture, with its peak soaring 1126 m above sea level, Mt. Sanbe is an impressive freestanding mountain with abundant nature and scenic hiking trails. The mountain is mentioned in the eighth century Izumo no Kuni Fudoki chronicle. Its slopes feature a rare combination of grassland and beech forest habitat. Mt. Sanbe is still one of the few active volcanoes in the Chugoku region, feeding several excellent hot springs at the foot of the mountain and in the surrounding area.
