Jikido Refectory

This Refectory building dates from the Nara period (710–794) and was originally a temple office (mandokoro-ya). It was converted to a dining room for priests in the Heian period (794–1185). The Japanese word jikido is today more commonly pronounced shokudo, meaning restaurant or dining room, but in the ancient past eating itself served as a form of religious practice and the refectory was also a place of prayer. Priests use the hall to celebrate the birthday of Shakyamuni, the historical Buddha on April 8 in a ceremony known as Bussho-e.

　奈良時代修建而成，原本是名為政屋（寺務所）的建築，平安時代（西元794－1185）以後則作為僧侶的食堂使用。現在會在4月8日於此食堂中舉辦慶祝釋迦牟尼生辰的佛誕會法會。

　这座建筑建于奈良时代，原本被称为政屋（寺务所），平安时代（794－1185）以后用作僧侣的食堂。现在每年4月8日于此食堂举办庆祝释迦牟尼生辰的“佛生会”法会。

지키도(食堂, 식당)(나라 시대 국보)

나라 시대(710~794년)에 창건된 건물로 원래는 만도코로야(政屋: 사찰의 사무소)라 불렸지만, 헤이안 시대(794~1185년)에는 승려들의 식당으로 사용되었습니다. 지키도를 한자로 쓰면 ‘食堂’이라서 오늘날에는 일반적으로 ‘쇼쿠도’ 즉, 식당이라 읽으며 한국어와 마찬가지로 레스토랑이나 식사를 하는 장소의 의미로 사용합니다. 또한 현재는 4월 8일에 이 지키도에서 석가모니의 탄생을 축하하는 불생회 법요가 열립니다.
