Soto-yu: Mandara-yu
This particular onsen, located just off the main streets, is a charming and quaint bathhouse with a rich history and interesting Buddhist architecture. Its name comes from the particular sutra that Buddhist priest Dochi Shonin repeated for 1,000 consecutive days until Kinosaki’s hot spring sprang forth at this site. The rotenburo outdoor baths here are round ceramic tubs positioned for gorgeous views of the mountainside.
