Deployment of ITS in regional communities |
- Nationwide ITS deployment based on services in system architecture
In parallel with the deployment of VICS (see 4-1,2,3) and ETC (pages 4-8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15), and research and development of the smart cruise system (pages 4-16,17,18,19,20,21), various types of ITS are being introduced in regional communities in Japan. This nationwide ITS deployment, which is based on services in the system architecture (pages 3-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) established in November 1999, involves 1) effective establishment of a comprehensive system, 2) ensuring flexibility of the system, and 3) promotion of support for domestic and international standardization, as well as the introduction of ITS capable of solving problems peculiar to regional communities.
ITS showcases for regional communities (pages 4-43,44,45,46,4-47,48) such as tests in an ITS model community (see the column in 4-46) as well as various ITS systems deployed in Japan (see 4-25,4-26,27,28,29,30,31,32,33,34,35,36,37,38,39,40,41,42) will be demonstrated in accordance with the user services in the system architecture (pages 3-4,5,6,7,8).
